I love a groom lost in thought during the first dance. What a perfect wedding day at B.R. Cohen in Glen Ellen, CA. The weather couldn’t have been more lovely!
Oooh!!! I’m just super excited!! I can hardly wait to share my NEW website! I’ve spent so many hours perfecting it, and I’m almost ready for the grand unveiling! Yippee! Here’s a sneak peak! So crisp and clean… and the photos are super BIG! Just the way I like them!
Oooh- I felt something was coming! Friday the 13th’s are always good for me! Palm Press Inc. www.palmpressinc.com is starting to print my SECOND greeting card today! I’m such a fan of their greeting cards- have been for years! YEA!! Thank you Meagen and Tony for letting me use your photo of your first dance!!!!
Ooh, and more good news! Another win- lucky 13- with WPJA! http://www.wpja.com
Taken at the Purple Orchid Resort and Spa! http://www.purpleorchid.com So pretty!!
One morning I received a call, the fellow inquired about a particular wedding day, which I had open, and we chatted a bit and then he said he was calling form Israel! Holy cow! They found me in Israel! How cool is that!?!?!
We scheduled a Skype call and we giggled and chatted about their wedding day which was at the Ritz Carlton (www.ritzcarlton.com/hmb) in Half Moon Bay (swoon!) while I clumsily tried to show them my handmade wedding albums from Italy while holding them in front of the Mac’s built-in camera! I must’ve looked like a circus performer. HA! We had such a lovely connection and I later got the memo- I was their gal! Once they arrived in the States, they set aside an evening for the three of us to go out to dinner, but alas- their favorite restaurant in San Francisco had an emergency closing! Arg! We ended up going to my fav- Pizzaiolo (http://www.pizzaiolooakland.com/) YUM! It was such a lovely evening when we became friends.
On their wedding day, we were blessed with lovely weather- no fog! How rare is that in Half Moon Bay!?!? I know! To say it was exquisite experience is really an understatement. Their wedding planner, Orna with Ornamento in The City (http://www.ornamento.com/) did one of the loveliest jobs I’ve ever seen– highly, highly, highly recommended! We all had such a deep connection, as did my favorite photography partner Edwin Borbon (http://www.edwinborbon.com/) who helped me with the wedding day. You so totally ROCK, Edwin! 😀
WPJA (http://www.wpja.com/) is the premier organization for wedding photojournalists and membership doesn’t come easy. Contests happen once a quarter and winners are chosen from around the world with thousands of entries in each category. I’m really honored to pick up my 11th and 12th place in this latest contest! Yippee!!
And… if that isn’t enough– after they announced the winners– I got an email from Palm Press (http://www.palmpressinc.com/) – a really cool publishing house of greeting cards featuring mostly photos from photojournalists – and they had seen my photo in the winners circle, and asked to use this first photo on an anniversary card! Way cool!
But the REALLY cool story is the couple who is dancing- Melinda’s grandparents- their 70th wedding anniversary fell on her wedding day (I think she might have planned it that way!) and she and Jason honored their anniversary with a special dance for just the two of them. This photo was taken during their special anniversary dance. So the fact that Palm Press is using it for an anniversary card, well, it’s just perfect. What a dream realized- being on a greeting card. *Gush*
Maria and Sean were married at Wente Vineyards last week, and I’ve just finished their photos. Here’s one of my favorites, Maria watching guests arrive in a soft rain. Congratulations m’dears! Two people who really know what living is all about! Carpe diem!
Imagine my joy in doing one of my free baby photo sessions on New Years Eve when little Sophia was just 10 days old.
I’ve really never experienced they type of joy that I felt while witnessing the miracle of life and how her parents were utterly mesmerized by her presence. I felt so lucky to have witnessed their new family in it’s earliest stages.
Another win (my 10th!) in this all-important, international organization! Schweet!
Tonya and Patrick were married in their new backyard in Danville in a small ceremony that brought both of their families together in a delightful way- it was very meaningful. Apparently they can be seen around town on their two-seater, vintage Schwinn. Love it!
What an utter thrill it was to crash Paulina and Sharad’s first gondola ride as husband and wife, after their Oakland Sailboat House wedding on Lake Merritt! Congratulations to you both!
What a stunning bride you were! Congratulations on your Carmel Mission Inn wedding day! ❤ ❤ ❤
Mariana and Daniel just got married at a charming picnic area in Tilden Park in the Berkeley hills! Complete with a taco truck, croquet, football and soccer and hammocks! Totally fun!
Angela and Michael were married on a lovely summer day recently at the Farm on Putah Creek in Winters, CA. It felt like a family homestead- what a great place to be married! Everyone felt so at home there- it just felt so comfy. Complete with paper airplanes for their guests to have fun with, this was one really spectacular wedding. The groom was the hero of the day- the barn door was caught in a big wind gust and could’ve knocked over the bride, but he dashed in and saved her from certain peril! It was absolutely perfect wedding day in the country! Congratulations Michael and Angela!
I’m proud to be a member of WPJA, Wedding Photojournalist Association, http://www.wpja.com/ and have placed twice in their recent contest! What an honor!
11-time Olympic medalist for USA Swimming team, Natalie Coughlin! And I got to take her photo for Tony La Russa’s ARF Celebrity Calendar! Very sweet!
I offer all of my bridal couples free baby portraits for life! I really end up loving my couples and find such joy to witness the next chapters in their lives! Lucky me!
Nicole and Fernando were married on the exquisite grounds of Hans Fahden Vineyards in Calistoga, CA, and I’m still reeling over how special of a day it was for them. Most of Fernando’s family came over from Chile and so there was over a year’s worth of planning that went into their special wedding day. I had the good fortune to meet them at Jen & Mark’s Brazilian Room wedding a year before, so having known them for over two years, well… I felt so lucky!
WOW!!! I consider myself SO lucky after attending a workshop from one of the most famous wedding photographers out there~ Ms. Bambi Cantrell! (I know!) We had an intimate posing workshop in her unbelievable studio today and I just will never be the same! http://www.cantrellportrait.com/
A few days ago, I had an amazingly fun engagement shoot with Sonia and Eric and photography friends Edwin Borbon (edwinborbon.com) and Heather Scharf (heatherscharfphotography.com/blog)!
We started on their North Beach rooftop where Eric proposed to Sonia with her great (!) grandmother’s diamond ring! We then walked all around their neighborhood, one of San Francisco’s greatest, and where their wedding will be at Saint Peter and Paul’s Church later this fall! We then jetted off to Crissy Field and the Palace of Fine Arts for some night shots of the beautiful couple! Then 4 out the 5 of us went back to their home and ate the most amazing hors d’oeuvres and drank the most amazing red wine while watching the photos on my laptop. I didn’t leave till 11pm, poor Eric and Sonia! It was such an amazing day! Congratulations to you both!
I was so delighted to attend the wedding of Liz and Jimmy last night in magical Foresthill, California at the Monte Verde Inn– which is one of the most charming places I’ve ever run across! Liz and Jimmy call the island city of Alameda their home, as do I, so we are kindred spirits. Their wedding was so sweet and meaningful even though Mother Nature had thought about raining… but she couldn’t squelch the joy of the newlyweds and their truly amazing friends and relatives! Congratulations Liz and Jimmy!
How do you go through 70,000 photos and choose your favorite 34 pictures!?!? I know! Impossible! But I’m giving it the ol’ college try and here’s my top wedding photojournalism picks for 2010. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed being present at these beautiful weddings…and a few from some mighty fun engagement shoots!
A nurse and a firefighter. A chance encounter. Such is the beginnings of the start of a fairytale. Today Julie and Casey started the rest of their magical lives together. Two of the sweetest, most caring people I’ve ever met. And they were blessed with a magically perfect day with a hint of autumn in the air and those clouds you only notice while on vacation… Mazel tov!
Jaclyn and Jimy were married on an exquisitely beautiful day in Livermore! Breathtaking- which matched the bridal couple. Jimy looked mighty dapper in his kilt, I do say! And Jaclyn’s beauty is undeniable! The orchid wedding couldn’t have been any nicer either! Congratulations to these wonderfully sweet people- I felt so lucky to be present!!
Amy and Nasser were married in June (I’m so far behind!) and it was as sweet as could be- a perfect June wedding in Yountville! We did the engagement shoot in Sunol a few months before, and they’re really loving and caring people. The DJ started playing some strange, but familiar music at the start of the cake-cutting; I was totally baffled! Amy told me later that she wanted something totally unexpected and that AC/DC’s, Hell’s Bells, was absolutely perfect! Gotta love it! Thank you guys for making it so memorable!
I feel so lucky that I am able to help with Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation pet celebrity calendar. This year I photographed Stephen Curry with the Golden State Warriors and Nick Swisher with the New York Yankees.
With great honor, I’m so excited to announce that I came in fourth place for best wedding photographer in the San Francisco Bay area, according to the San Francisco Chronicle’s web site, SF Gate! Out of 239 nominees!! What a real honor!
The judges at WPJA (http://www.wpja.com/) have deemed one of my “getting ready” photos worthy of a place in their contest!! It’s a total honor, being an international contest with thousands of entries! I’m thrilled!
